Find Out If You Qualify For Massage Coverage
Some, but not all, insurance providers, offer HSAs with their HDHPs.
The first step is to contact your insurance company. Even if your doctor rules massage as medically necessary, some insurance policies still wont cover massages. Dont assume youre covered just because your doctor prescribed the massage. Confirm with your insurance provider before moving forward.
Another important thing to note: self-employed individuals can qualify for HSAs, but are not eligible to open FSAs. This is due to HSAs being owned by the employee, whereas FSAs are owned by your employer. You legally cant make contributions to yourself.

What are the different types of therapists?
There are many reasons a person would need a therapist there are different mental health issues that need to be addressed. Psychologists are those with doctoral degrees in psychology or human behavior, and are trained in counseling, psychotherapy, and testing to help uncover emotional problems. Psychiatrists on the other hand, are more like doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of mental or psychiatric illness. They have the medical background and legal licence to administer drugs to their patients and are also trained in psychotherapy .
Social Workers are specialists that enhance a person’s psychological and social functioning by providing empathy and counseling in health-related settings. Licensed professional counselors have at least a master’s degree in counseling and are certified to independently diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders by the state.
How do you search for the right therapist?
If you already work with a professional that you trust, like a lawyer, dentist, or physician, he or she might be able to provide you with some recommendations as they are typically connected within a community. Your family and friends or coworkers might have experience with a therapist in the past as well. Doing an internet search is of course still an option but be careful to select reliable sites.

How To Use Your Hsa To Save On Depression Treatment
The term mental health has taken on a new meaning for everyone this year .
The term mental health has taken on a new meaning for everyone this year . Having to stay away from loved ones, wait in socially distanced lines, and celebrate major life events through a computer screen has taken a toll. In June, the CDC reported that about 40% of adults have expressed that theyâre struggling with mental health, which is more than double last yearâs average. So whatâs stopping people from getting treatment? One major reason: accessibility. From expensive therapy sessions, out of network specialists, and the rising cost of medication, it may seem better to just delay treatment rather than foot the bill.
While healthcare providers are making slow but sure progress to make options more accessible, costs can still be high. An HSA is a great tool that you can use to your advantage to help cover the cost gap and support your long-term mental health.
Hereâs how you can use your HSA to save on depression treatment.

Can I Get Reimbursed For Marriage Counseling Through My Health Savings Account

Your health savings account works like an IRA for medical bills. You deposit money tax-free, it earns interest tax-free, and your withdrawals are tax-free as long as they’re for qualified medical expenses. Anything that the IRS identifies as a deductible health-care expense in Publication 502 qualifies as tax-free HSA spending — but marriage counseling represents a bit of a gray area depending on how Section 213 of the Tax Code is interpreted. Certain mental health services, such as treatment for depression, are considered medical expenses. However, the consensus of insurance companies and other financial experts seems to be that marriage counseling does not typically qualify as a “medical” expense.
