Dr Bethany Carnevale Pt Dpt Ocs
Dr. Bethany Carnevales passion for physical therapy began while volunteering in a community wellness class for people with Parkinson’s disease back in 2008. That led her to the Doctorate in Physical Therapy program at the University of Rhode Island. There she worked with adults with disabilities in a wellness setting.
After completing graduate school, her efforts were focused on outpatient orthopedic physical therapy and becoming a Master Trainer in A Matter of Balance, a nationally recognized program focused on fall prevention in local communities. She used this training to host many fall prevention classes across the state of Rhode Island. She was active in the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Fall Prevention Subcommittee and the American Physical Therapy Association. Following her passion for orthopedics, Bethany become a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Assocation and Certified in Trigger Point and Dry Needling. Bethany then began working in a homecare setting addressing the needs of Rhode Islanders who were deemed medically homebound.
After the birth of her first child, she became interested in Women’s Health Physical Therapy and completed a residency under the guidance of a Certified Women’s Health Specialist while still working in outpatient orthopedics. After the birth of her second child, she stepped away from outpatient physical therapy clinic and transitioned to subacute physical therapy.

Inspire Physical Therapy And Wellness Provides Holistic Treatments
Jennifer McCauley, Inspire Physical Therapy and Wellness co-owner, demonstrates the high-intensity laser therapy on Amy Hinkel, a physical therapist at the practice.
In addition to being co-owners, McCauley is one of four therapists, and Henderson serves as the chief financial officer.
McCauley said she graduated with a doctorate in physical therapy from Mount St. Marys University in California in 2008, passed the orthopedic clinical boards in 2012 and has been a certified Pilates teacher for over 20 years.
Services provided at Inspire Physical Therapy and Wellness include orthopedic physical therapy, sports-related physical therapy and pelvic health physical therapy.
While working at Kaiser Permanente in California before coming to Texas, McCauley said she underwent pelvic floor physical therapy for conditions she experienced after having an emergency cesarean section.
I started having urinary leakage abdominal pain, and I didnt know why, McCauley said. I received the therapy it resolved all my issues and made me want to help others with it.
She trained to become a pelvic health physical therapist in the urology department at Kaiser. She said she treats men with testicular pain, erectile dysfunction issues and pelvic pain that stems from sports injuries. She treats women for postpartum issues, urinary leakage, pain with intercourse and chronic pelvic pain conditions, such as endometriosis, she said.

Dr Shayla Adams Pt Dpt
Dr. Shayla Adams, PT, DPT attended Gettysburg College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in Spanish and Business. After college she followed her dream of living on the west coast, moving to San Diego, California. She continued her education at the University of California, San Diego receiving a Certificate in Exercise Science while simultaneously working in the Rehab Department at SHARP Grossmont Hospital. Dr. Adams began her career as a Physical Therapist in 2013 after graduating with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Hartford. She has experience in a variety of settings, including outpatient orthopedics and acute care, but followed her passion for gerontology and neurology to specialize in geriatric and neurological physical therapy.
For the past nine years, Dr. Adams has worked in subacute physical therapy in southern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut, helping clients regain independence between hospital and home. She believes in addressing the whole person, including physical, mental and emotional health, while also taking social factors into consideration. Dr. Adams focuses on retraining the full body, while emphasizing stability with motion and functional activity. Clients are able to return to their passions an achieve maximum wellbeing through her holistic approach to rehabilitative medicine.

Melissa brings twelve years experience in occupational therapy to the INSPIRE Team! From 2010 to 2013 she worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, and returned to the New England Institute of Technology where she graduated in March of 2013 with her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy.
She has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient orthopedics, skilled nursing facilities and home health. Melissa brings a vast knowledge of geriatrics, cardiopulmonary, neurological disease, and home assessment and safety to her practice. For the past three years Melissa has worked as the Rehab Director at Stoneridge/Avalon, a transitional care facility in Mystic, Connecticut.
Melissa looks to combine her knowledge of gerontology and geriatric Occupational Therapy, with the aging in place process and environmental modifications , working with clients to maintain independence in their homes.
Melissa brings joy, compassion and empathy to her clients as she is truly passionate about helping people achieve their goals through the use of evidence-based practice. She continues to seek advanced trainings and certifications, with the most recent as a Certified Urban Poling Instructor.
Melissa lives in Groton, Connecticut with her two teenage sons and black lab, Callie. She enjoys being outdoors, hiking, fishing and kayaking.
