All search hits from all 4 databases were screened and examined for relevant abstracts and titles. Full text of relevant studies was reviewed to determine appropriateness according to established inclusion criteria. Case reports and case series were excluded. Articles were recognized as appropriate when they included human subjects, used a wavelength between 600 and 1,100 nm, had a control group, used an objective measure for hair regrowth, and involved a 16-week or greater clinical trial.

While these all use the same technology, I have significant reservations about laser combs.
The biggest problem is that theres no easy way to track how long each part of your scalp has been exposed to the laser diode. Why? Because youre combing your hair and moving the diodes the entire time. Theres no way to know if each part of your scalp is getting enough exposure for a theraputic effect.
The laser combs are also uncomfortable to use. And Im speaking from personal experience. I bought a $300 laser comb back in 2009 and never liked using it. I feared damaging my eyes each time a laser diode flashed into my retina. After a few months , I put the comb in my closet and forgot about it.
So if youre going to try laser therapy, I recommend that you should opt for a helmet over a comb. Doing so might cost more, but itll help you track scalp coverage and avoid eye injuries.
