Benefits Of A Laser Helmet

Apart from its proven effectiveness, the use of a laser helmet is very efficient, easy to use and – in the long term – cost effective. Below, we will list the benefits of a laser helmet.

Durable treatment methodYou can benefit from these powerful and user friendly laser helmets for years. It is a one-time purchase, after which you can undergo as many treatments as you wish. A laser helmet is effective as a stand-alone treatment in virtually all stages of hair loss.

Ease of useA laser helmet is the easiest treatment against hair loss. You place the helmet on your head and turn it on with a press on the button. The treatment will automatically stop when it has been finished. The treatment works with light, so nothing needs to be added to the scalp. This makes a laser helmet very suitable for people who for example do not wish to or can not apply a lotion 2 times per day.

Hands freeThe treatment is not only very simple, you will also have your hands free. With the Theradome, you can even walk freely during your treatment. A laser helmet therefore provides you with all possible freedom during the treatment to do other things. Additionally, it will be easily possible to fit the 2 to 3 treatments per week into even the busiest schedules.

No side effectsLaser therapy has no side effects and is a completely safe treatment. It works purely by means of light on the skin. What is also nice to know, is that the lasers produce virtually no heat during the treatment of 20 minutes.

Hair Follicles And The Hair Growth Cycle

The typical growth of healthy hair progresses incrementally in phases over the course of several years.Hair grows from the follicle, or root, underneath the skin. The hair is fed by blood vessels at the base of the follicle, which give it the nourishment it needs to grow.Between starting to grow and falling out years later, each hair passes through four stages: anagen, catagen, telogen and exogen. Every hair can be at a different stage of the growth cycle at any given time.

  • Anagen : The growing phase lasts two to six years and determines the length of your hair. Over time, the length of the anagen phase decreases. Therefore, the hair may become weaker and thinner after each cycle.
  • Catagen : This is the transitional stage that lasts one to two weeks. The hair follicle shrinks and detaches from the dermal papilla.
  • Telogen : This is the resting phase which lasts around five to six weeks. Around 1015 percent of the hairs on your head are in this phase at any given time. While the old hair is resting, your new hair starts its growth phase.
  • Exogen : This is part of the resting phase, when the old hair sheds and the new hair continues to grow. Anywhere from 50 to 150 hairs can fall out daily. This is considered to be a normal amount of hair shedding.
  • But what does all this mean for regrowing hair?

Can Lllt Help Hair Transplant Success

Low-level laser therapy, also called LLLT, is used often in conjunction with hair restoration surgeries. While LLLT has been shown to work alone, laser therapy cannot completely reverse a balding area on its own. Instead, individuals suffering from severe male-pattern baldness opt to use both treatments to increase their success.

Powering Up Cellular Atp Production In Growing Your Hair

How does regrowing hair with a laser hair cap work?

Lets walk through the whole process.

ATP is produced within the mitochondria of a cell.

Most people know the mitochondria as the powerhouse of the cell.

ATP is the source of energy for every cell in the body, including hair follicles. Without enough ATP, cells simply can not function.

This form of cellular energy is essentially trapped inside the cell due to chemical bonds but becomes usable once released. When it is released through interaction with a technology like LLLT, it can be used in other chemical reactions in the body that require energy, including a vital process known as endergonic reactions.

Research has shown that by stimulating ATP production, tired cellular processes can be effectively re-awakened, resulting in powerful outcomes for sufferers of hair loss and genetic balding. Since your mitochondria power the cells of your body , reviving them is a key part of stimulating new hair growth and recovering that healthy head of hair that once was yours.

It is a genetic condition and it is the most common cause of hair loss in both men and women. Androgenetic alopecia is caused because of a gene that is more sensitive to the effects of Dihydrotestrostone . DHT can build up in the roots of hair follicles and can cause them to get smaller.

Eventually, the follicles become completely dormant and hair growth stops.

LLLT for hair has been demonstrated to increase cell metabolism and the health of blood vessels in the scalp for thicker, healthier and more resilient hair shafts. Book now for a free consultation with our Hair Loss specialist to discuss if this is a suitable option for you.

    The Reason For Hair Loss

While its normal to lose about a hundred hairs a day, excessive hair loss can be due to a variety of different causes, such as your genetic hormones, a medication that youre taking, chemotherapy that youve gone through, or starting and stopping birth control pills. These can all influence your hair growth.

While young girls and young women can be affected by pattern hair loss, it most commonly occurs in women over the age of 40, and it tends to present or begin worsening around the age of over 40-50 years old.

The major consideration for hair fall is due to steroids. The problem with these medications is that they can have major side effects, but they can also be worse around the time of pregnancy and delivery of the baby due to changes in hormones. Starting and stopping birth control can also influence the hair growth cycle.

Medication 1,2, hair transplantations 3 and concealers 4 are among the many hair loss treatments available today. If you prefer a more non-invasive treatment that doesnt involve the use of medication, low level laser therapy could be the hair loss treatment for you.

The development of LLLT can be traced back to the 1960s. Dr. Mester was one of the first to observe the effects of light therapy on hair loss. Using a laser that emitted a ruby color beam , Dr. Mester noticed rapid hair regrowth in mice5. Since this discovery, several studies on the effects of laser therapy on humans have taken place.

How Does Low Level Laser Therapy Work?

Despite not knowing the exact details, we do know that the effectiveness of LLLT can depend on the wavelength used. During LLLT, wavelengths within the visible light spectrum are used to treat hair loss9. Specific wavelengths, such as those associated with red light , have shown to be quite effective when used with LLLT10,11. Power could also contribute to the effectiveness of LLLT. LLLT is delivered in a low power setting as higher power can result in first or second degree burns6. Due to the low power setting used, LLLT is safe and doesnt require the use of any protective equipment during treatment.

    What are my LLLT Options?

    LLLT Testimonials

Patient 1: This patient underwent 4.5 months of therapy, receiving LLLT treatment once a week.

History Of Low Level Laser Therapy

Low Level Laser Therapy has been applied in medical science since the 70s. LLLT makes use of the effects that light of a specific wavelength has on the skin. Normal lamps produce light with a broad spectrum of wavelengths. Lasers, however, produce light with very specific wavelengths. This allows lasers to work very specifically and efficiently, they convert all energy into the desired wavelength. The therapy is used for many purposes. There are studies that show that it helps against, among others, rheumatism, eczema and skin aging. Moreover, laser therapy is said to accelerate the healing of wounds and injuries.

Since the 80s, various companies have been involved in applying LLLT on hair loss. Initially, it was only possible to receive LLLT treatments in special clinics, whereby a cap was placed over the head of the patient using large machines. It was especially popular before and after the treatments at a hair transplant clinic. The laser light was said to restore the transplanted follicles faster. The Laser Hair Care caps are still widely used in hair clinics.

    Final Thoughts On Low

The evidence is clear: low-level laser therapy shows promise in slowing, stopping, or even reversing hair loss. With that said, researchers still havent uncovered

    • LLLTs exact mechanisms of action
    • The best wavelength, diode width, session duration, or session frequency for hair regrowth

Low-level laser therapy is also expensive, and if youre going to spend thousands of dollars, do your homework so you avoid scammy laser products. Either 1) replicate the methodology of human hair regrowth-LLLT studies, or 2) track down someone whos seen success with LLLT, and then replicate their methodology.

In order to advance low-level laser therapy and its effectiveness for hair recovery, LLLT providers should start sharing their best practices with physicians. Doing so will get us closer to uncovering the mechanisms and optimum settings for hair recovery.

One last note: I have no recommendations for any LLLT products.

    How Is Laser Therapy Implemented

Low Level Laser Therapy For Hair Loss | iRestore 6 MONTH UPDATE!

Patients can undergo low-level laser therapy through a few different methods. Laser domes, laser combs, and laser caps. Laser domes are professional pieces of equipment that require a visit to the doctor to receive treatment. Laser combs have limitations since treatment is performed primarily at-home and the application is cumbersome. Laser caps, on the other hand, are portable, hands-free, and effective.

The Hair Transplant Institute of Miami offers the Capillus272 laser cap, a device cleared by the FDA for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. Capillus272 caps have 272 professional-strength lasers to make it the most powerful at-home device for thinning hair.

How Will I Know If I Am A Good Candidate For Low Laser Light Energy

Low laser light therapy is an effective option for men and women who are experiencing thinning hair or hair loss due to a genetic condition. Before any treatment plan is devised, Dr. Avram provides a comprehensive consultation to each individual patient to determine the cause of the hair loss and the most effective treatments. This consultation is an opportunity for you to ask questions about the treatments for hair loss. Dr. Avram will review your medical history, hair loss history , medications, and diet. In addition, an exam of your scalp will be performed to help establish a diagnosis and create an optimal medical or surgical treatment plan.

What You Need To Know Before Trying Low

    This 58

Problem #1: LLLT Products Vary In Hair Regrowth Efficacy

There are three different kinds of laser therapy treatments:

  • Laser Combs. Hair combs with laser diodes built between the bristles. Use: any time, any place.
  • Personal Laser Helmets. Take-home laser diode helmets. Use: probably just your home.
  • In-Office Laser Helmets. In-house laser diode helmets. Use: only at a doctors office.
  • While these all use the same technology, I have significant reservations about laser combs.

The biggest problem is that theres no easy way to track how long each part of your scalp has been exposed to the laser diode. Why? Because youre combing your hair and moving the diodes the entire time. Theres no way to know if each part of your scalp is getting enough exposure for a theraputic effect.

The laser combs are also uncomfortable to use. And Im speaking from personal experience. I bought a $300 laser comb back in 2009 and never liked using it. I feared damaging my eyes each time a laser diode flashed into my retina. After a few months , I put the comb in my closet and forgot about it.

So if youre going to try laser therapy, I recommend that you should opt for a helmet over a comb. Doing so might cost more, but itll help you track scalp coverage and avoid eye injuries.

Problem #2: There Are No Laser Therapy-Hair Regrowth Best Practices

Of all the doctors that offer in-house laser treatments, none of them seem to agree on which settings are best for hair recovery.
