Neuromd Corrective Therapy Device Reviews

My Opinions As A Long

NeuroMD Review | Does NeuroMD Really Work?

I am absolutely not an expert on treating back pain, or I would have cured mine a long, long time ago. I ruptured a disc in my lumbar spine for the first time in 2005. The pain was agonizing, and I didn’t realize just how bad it was until I was walking through Sam’s Club and discovered my shoe had fallen off and hadn’t even noticed. So, I went to the neurosurgeon, and it was a no-brainer that I needed it repaired ASAP. I had my first surgery that summer and felt fantastic immediately. Too fantastic, in fact, because six short months later, I re-herniated the same disc.

I tried physical therapy and stretching exercises, but nothing worked, so I returned to my second surgery seven months after the first. It helped, but since that time, some 15 years ago, it has progressively worsened.

Pain And Neuromodulation: Whats All The Buzz About

Chronic pain is an enigma for both pain doctors and their patients: difficult to understand , challenging to treat effectively, and frustrating to live with. Desperate patients sometimes turn to drastic and irreversible surgical procedures, like amputating nerves to relieve pain, and unfortunately even those procedures may fail to provide the hoped-for results. Fortunately there have been great strides in research related to pain perception and our nervous systems reaction to various pain treatments, and weve been able to develop that provide many people with much-needed relief and improve their quality of life.

Why Neuromd Is Becoming The #1 Treatment Modality For Back Pain

The Trouble With Imaging

A vast majority82 percentof our survey respondents who saw at least one healthcare professional for back pain said they got an X-ray, a CT scan, or an MRI. But most people who develop back pain dont need those tests.

Why not? Because, Levy says, the broken parts seen on imaging studies do not always correlate with the source or the degree of pain.

But when doctors see signs of arthritis or other damage, they often have an urge to fix it, Levy says, and that can lead to unnecessary surgery.

Its not always wise for patients to see those abnormalities, either, because it can undermine their confidence that they can continue to lead healthy, active lives. All of a sudden, people may think, Im not someone with a temporary bout of pain, Im a back-pain patient,’ says Matthew Kowalski, D.C., a chiropractor at the Osher Clinical Center. And that image can stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Keep It Or Send It Back

Well, it hasn’t been 60 days, but today I made the decision to return the NeuroMD unit. I realized that I feel exactly the same way whether or not I use it. I was gone last week for 4 days, didn’t have it with me, and felt no different. So, I decided to initiate the return. Of interesting note, the company does charge you a 15% “Restocking Fee” even though they do not restock or resell the units. In my case, I will be charged $29.99 to return the package in its original box. Not sure how I feel about that, but it’s their company. Other people may have better results with this device, but in my case, the results just weren’t great enough, or consistent enough with the cost for me. Let me know if you’ve kept or returned your NeuroMD in the comments.

How Does Neuromd Work And How Is It Different From Tens

The NeuroMD Corrective Therapy Device places the body in proper optimal function by starting at the source: the core and lower back. NeuroMDs first pain reduction pathway is through strengthening and balancing the muscles in the lower back which stabilize and align the spine. The secondary pathway of pain relief is NeuroMD’s ability to reduce inflammation and heal damaged tissues by increasing blood flow to the area.

To better understand the differences between NeuroMDs NMES and TENS , we must first understand the difference between sensory nerves and motor nerves.

TENS and NMES target different nerve groups of the body. TENS targets the sensory nerves, which temporarily masks pain signals to the brain. NMES targets motor nerves which elicit a muscle contraction, directly affecting the musculoskeletal system. The sensory and motor nerves are recruited with different electrical parameters, which is why NMES and TENS affect the body differently.

The various parameters consist of waveforms, frequencies, pulse durations, and duty cycles, all of which affect the body differently. For example: NMES parameters used to target small muscles in the throat to treat dysphagia are vastly different then NMES parameters used to target deep spinal stabilizing muscles for back pain.

With the NeuroMD Corrective Therapy Device incorporating preset parameters based on the findings of multiple clinical studies, patients and physicians alike are exploring this new option with great success.

Are You A Candidate And What Are The Side Effects

To see if your a candidate, you can take a 30-second Back Pain Assessment online. Its always recommended to consult with your doctor before starting any new treatment modality or exercise program. While safe for most people, those who use pacemakers or other electrical implanted devices should not use this device without explicit consent and direction from a doctor. While there are no side effects, some people may experience mild skin irritation under the electrodes with excessive use or if the skin was not cleaned properly before treatment.

How To Use The Neuromd Corrective Therapy Device

NeuroMD Corrective Therapy Device

Before using the NeuroMD Corrective Therapy Device, clean the treatment area. Make sure it is also dry since the unit uses electricity to stimulate muscles and bring relief.

The NeuroMD device has two small electrodes on one side with an activation button on the other. Held securely in place at the base of the back with sticky electro pads resembling butterfly wings, this design allows the user to move without worrying about it coming loose.

Before attaching the NeuroMD device to the treatment area, make sure both the unit and the included remote control are on and synced with each other. This ensures control of the device once in place.

We recommend starting the device on its lowest setting. Once in place, it is possible to increase the intensity of the electric pulse. This allows the treatment area to become slowly and comfortably accustomed to the pulses while avoiding unnecessary shock or discomfort.

When applying the NeuroMD, make sure both electrodes are touching the skin in order to create a current. Without this current, the device wont work properly.

Typically used for the lower back, also apply the NeuroMD Corrective Therapy Device on joints, shoulders, legs, and upper back, where it is common to experience muscle pains.

Experts recommend avoiding use of the NeuroMD therapy device near openings and sensitive areas including around the eyes and mouth. Be sure not to place it on the chest over the heart.

Chronic Pain Relief Without Drugs: 8 Products To Try

Forget the ibuprofen. Plug into one of these gadgets instead.

If you’re like the majority of the human population, you likely reach for the bottle of Tylenol — or whatever over-the-counter pain pill you have handy — as soon as you feel a headache or any other sort of bodily pain coming on.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing: OTC pain medications do have their place, and they’re proven to be effective, although I’m sure you don’t need clinical evidence if you’ve experienced the effects of these medications first-hand.

But contrary to popular belief, OTC pain medications aren’t always the best way to relieve pain. Their effects are rather temporary, after all, and they might cause side effects in some people. If you’re interested in alleviating pain without medicine — even the mild OTC kind — consider trying one of these devices for drug-free pain relief.

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation Training Results In Enhanced Activation Of Spinal Stabilizing Muscles During Spinal Loading And Improvements In Pain Ratings

“Analysis of results revealed clinically and statistically significant improvements in indicators of both muscle groups’ performance, as evidenced by ultrasound evaluation of activation during voluntary activity. These improvements were associated with significant improvements in self reported pain levels, suggesting that NMES has an important role to play in Chronic Lower Back Pain rehabilitation.”

A new guideline issued by the American Academy of Neurology finds that transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation , a widely used pain therapy involving a portable device, is not recommended to treat chronic low-back painpain that has persisted for three months or longerbecause research shows it is not effective.

The guideline is published in the December 30, 2009, online issue of Neurology®, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The guideline determined that TENS can be effective in treating diabetic nerve pain, also called diabetic neuropathy, but more and better research is needed to compare TENS to other treatments for this type of pain.

Research on TENS for chronic low-back pain has produced conflicting results. For the guideline, the authors reviewed all of the evidence for low-back pain lasting three months or longer. Acute low-back pain was not studied. The studies to date show that TENS does not help with chronic low-back pain.

Dubinsky stated further that good evidence showed that TENS can be effective in treating diabetic nerve pain.
