Figure Out Your Finances

Students seeking federal financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid which online at fafsa.ed.gov. As a result of completing a FAFSA, an applicant will receive a federal Student Aid Report in the mail or online. An electronic version of the SAR is automatically sent to the schools listed on the FAFSA. To list Great Falls College MSU, use our school code: 009314.

Students applying for financial aid may also be required to provide proper federal income tax information, completed verification materials, and any other information requested by the Financial Aid Office. Students must apply for financial aid annually.

Assistance is available to prospective students applying for financial aid. In addition, financial aid counseling for new students is an integral part of the admissions and orientation process. Once enrolled, students may receive counseling and assistance as needed. What To Expect On Your First Visit

Assessment:

Please plan to come 15 minutes before the start of your appointment to complete your new patient paperwork. Your initial appointment will last approximately 45 minutes, so please plan accordingly. We will ask you to explain your specific injury or complaint and actively participate in a Physical Therapy Assessment to determine the nature and cause of your pain or injury. Privacy and your comfort are our number one concern throughout this process. Feel free to ask questions as we explain every step of our process. We will then develop an individualized treatment program to meet your needs and goals. We will schedule subsequent appointments, if needed, at this time. These appointments are usually between 30-40 minutes.

Interactive Treatment Program:

Your Physical Therapist will assist you in achieving your personal health goals through a variety of approaches. This may include the following:

Therapeutic Exercise:

You may actively participate in a prescribed exercise program, specific to your needs and goals. This may also include functional training to promote proper body mechanics, enhance functional movement as well as decreasing the chance of re-injury.

Education:

You will receive education regarding your injury and or complaint, as well as education for prevention and ability to progress independently.

Physical Therapist Assistant Program Requirements

Physical Therapist Schools

Many students need preliminary math, science, and writing courses before enrolling in the program requirements. These courses may increase the total number of program credits. Students should review their math and writing placement before planning out their full program schedules.

The Great Falls College PTA Program is a limited enrollment program, accepting a restricted number of students each year. Interested students are urged to contact the PTA Program Director or Advising and Career Center Advisors for student advising specific to admission requirements and criteria for program acceptance.

Student Goals:

  • The student will develop an entry level skill set who are prepared both didactically and clinically for passing licensure while demonstrating quality provision of services under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist. Developing Quality Skills

    Pta Program Requirements Prior To Admission:

    Prior to Fall admission into the PTA program students must:

    • Be admitted to Great Falls College MSU and in good academic standing. Application information may be acquired at the office, or by calling Student Admissions at 268-3700 or online at www.gfcmsu.edu.
    • Complete 40 hours or more of observation with a licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. Please note that higher point values for admission to the PTA Program are awarded at 10 hour intervals. Refer to section âObservation Hoursâ in the application packet.
    • Earn a grade of C or higher in all pre-requisite courses
    • Computer literacy and keyboarding skills are assumed

    Application packets must be postmarked on or before May 31st to be considered eligible for admission into the Physical Therapist Assistant program for the 2022-23 academic year. From the pool of completed applications, the prospective PTA students will be screened.In the event that a full class of 20 PTA students cannot be initially attained, then incomplete or late applications may be looked at for possible admission. Applications with requirements not met at the time of the program deadline may be provisionally admitted pending fulfillment of ALL requirements. All persons submitting an application will be notified of their admission status following the selection process, approximately 4 weeks later.
